Welcome back to another episode of Local Search Tuesdays. This week, I’ve got some awesome news to share with you about a killer Local SEO tool.

Back in the summer, I did an episode about a killer Chrome plugin called GMB Spy that lets you check your competitors’ categories on GMB… well now, that’s GBP – sorry, still getting used to the new name.

But this killer chrome plugin makes it super easy to check your competitors’ categories – and version two of the plugin has just been released! I was lucky enough to know about it and see the beta version, since George Nenni, the guy who makes it, is a buddy.

The new version adds a few exciting features. Before, it would just give you a list of which categories were selected for the business you’re looking at. Now, it looks like this – the primary category is listed separately. That’s important, because the primary category is more weighted, so it helps you to see a better picture of what’s going on.

Notice, there’s a new tab at the top labeled “Local Pack” – this part is super sweet. If you do a search and see a map pack, click the link at the bottom of the pack to see more than just the top 3 locations. Currently, that link will be labeled “more places” or “more locations”, but we all know that Google likes to change things, so by the time this video comes out, who knows what it will say…

But when you get to the local finder page, if you click to GMB Spy, you see the category selections for the top 20 businesses in the finder! Or, you could go right to Google Maps and do it there too. Even better, there’s a “download CSV” link that lets you download all that info. It’s really awesome for competitive research.

So if you haven’t checked out GMB Spy yet, head over to the Chrome store and download it. That’s all the time we’ve got for today, so you know what that means.

We totally just high-fived ‘cause you learned something awesome.
Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you again next week for another episode of Local Search Tuesdays.
