Welcome back to another episode of Local Search Tuesdays. I’ve been talking a lot about Google My Business lately, so now I’m going to change it up a bit. For the next few weeks, I’m going to be sharing reputation management tips and tricks. This week, I’m sharing a killer tip that will help you get more reviews from your customers.

We all know reviews are important – in today’s world, potential customers trust online reviews from strangers just as much as they trust reviews from friends and family. Your reviews can make or break your business.

Many businesses struggle with getting more customer reviews. A big factor is human nature – if you’re upset, you’re likely to leave a bad review, but if you had an amazing experience, you don’t usually think about sharing it in a review.

But, if an employee knows you had a killer experience and asks if you’d leave a review, you almost feel obligated. Asking every single customer for a review is the key to success.

And it’s not just about asking – you have to make it easy for customers to leave reviews as well. Google reviews can be difficult, since customers have to be signed in, and have to know what to search for to pull up your Google My Business listing, and then have to know exactly what to click on to leave a new review.

It’s incredibly common for businesses to lose out on reviews that customers would be willing to leave – they just can’t figure out how to leave them.

So here’s today’s tip – you’ll get far more reviews on Google if you offer a direct link to your review widget. Whether you’re linking to the review from a “leave us a review” page on your site or sending the link in an email, the link takes the customer directly to the review widget. There’s zero possibility of confusion or error.

So let me show you how to do it. There are quite a few tools out there that offer the same functionality, but we like to use Whitespark’s tool. Head over to whitespark.ca/google-review-link-generator to access the tool.

Start typing in your business name, and it will auto-complete based on your Google My Business information. As soon as you select your business, the link is generated. Simply copy it and paste it wherever you want to use it.

The link will look like this – it includes your GMB business place ID.

When a customer clicks on the link, watch what happens – BOOM, it skips directly to the review widget for your business so it’s nearly foolproof for customers to leave a review.

So go get your direct review link and start using it – it’ll be easier for customers to leave you reviews on Google, which means you’ll get more reviews. Great for your business, and awesome for your SEO.

That’s all the time we’ve got for this week’s video, so you know what that means…
