Welcome back to a special Christmas edition of Local Search Tuesdays. This week, it’s everyone’s favorite annual episode: My list of 2025 Christmas movies!
This is the sixth year that I’ve used the Christmas week episode to share my list of movies I’m excited to see during the holiday season. And this year, it’s a pretty killer list of movies.
Starting at number 10:
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
Thanks to my kids, I’m a massive SpongeBob fan, and the trailer for this is awesome. It looks like it’s going to be as hilarious as all the other SpongeBob stuff, and the bit with characters crapping bricks is brilliant.
Number 9:
Zootopia 2
I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one when I saw it the first time, but it’s grown on me over the years. The sequel looks awesome and it’s already made a ton of money, and I’m excited to see what they do with it. Apparently there’s a crazy twist at the end too.
Number8:
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
My daughter Penny is OBSESSED with the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, so this is more one I’m excited for because I’m excited to see her fangirl reaction. And honestly, the first movie was a heck of a lot better than it deserved to be, so I think this one could be a pleasant surprise too.
Number 7:
Now You See Me, Now You Don’t
I’ve been a sucker for magic my whole life, and while the second movie in this series was a bit rough, this one looks awesome and it’s got good buzz.
Number 6:
Wicked: For Good
To be fair, I already saw this, but it’s been on my December movie list ever since they announced the release date. I’m a massive fan of musicals, and my wife and I saw Wicked in London. While it runs a bit long, it’s awesome.
Number 5:
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
I really enjoyed Knives Out, and was excited that they made a sequel. I wanted so badly for it to do well so they’d make a series, and here we are! Daniel Craig kills it as Benoit Blanc, and I really can’t wait to see this one.
Number 4:
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Come on… Both Kill bill films edited into a single glorious badass movie? AND it has new footage and an anime sequence? Sign me up and give me a big ol’ bucket of popcorn, I’m definitely seeing this one.
Number 3:
Avatar: Fire and Ash
I’ve been a massive Avatar fan since day one. I even paid a stupid amount of money at Disney World to get and Avatar figure of me… The first two movies were awesome, and the buzz around this one is unbelievable already. I’ll be seeing this on opening night for sure.
Number 2:
Sisu: Road to Revenge
I have yet to talk to anyone who’s even seen the first Sisu, and it’s ridiculously awesome. It was basically a John Wick clone, with a Finnish soldier killing a crap ton of Nazis during the end of World War 2. You’d think that there are only so many really graphic ways to kill someone, but apparently they’ve come up with some REALLY creative kills for this one, and the main character is quite possibly one of the best characters in an action movie ever.
Number 1:
Anaconda
You can’t get much more meta than this one. Ant Man and Bowser decide to remake the original Anaconda movie, so they head to South America and of course everything goes wrong. The trailer is one of the funniest trailers I’ve seen in ages. If the movie is only half as awesome as the preview, it’ll be the funniest movie released in years.
And that’s it for this year’s list of holiday movies to check out in theaters in 2025. That’s all the time we have left for this week’s episode, so you know what that means. Put your hand on the screen right here: We totally just high-fived ‘cause you learned something awesome. Thanks for watching, enjoy the holidays, and we’ll see you again next week for another episode of Local Search Tuesdays.
