This week on Local Search Tuesdays is all about how you can check your local search results simply from anywhere with this awesome new tool. Need to see how your business ranks in Cincinnati, but you’re in Baltimore? That is no problem. The Local Rank Checker has you covered.
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Since local search results are influenced by the searcher’s real-world location, it’s difficult to check how a site ranks in a city if you’re not actually there. Sure, there are several rank tracking tools out there that will emulate a location, but most business owners don’t have access to advanced rank tracking software.
If you’re a car dealer who wants to check rankings for other stores in your group, or an attorney with offices in multiple cities, or any other business with multiple locations, I’ve got an awesome new tool to share with you today to help you check these “not in your city” search results.
Darren Shaw of Whitespark fame has created a new tool called the “Google Local Rankings Checker” – and it’s completely free to use. Head over to freelocalrankingchecker.com and you’ll see this simple form:
Enter your keyword and location and click the “generate search links” button. The tool will then give you 2 links. The first link will show you the standard search results page with the map pack and organic results. The second link displays the Local Finder results, which is the map pack expanded to show every business that matches the query instead of just the top three.
Keep in mind – since the location is being set by the UULE parameter in the background, you’re able to check implicit searches, so you don’t have to include a city or geo term in the keyword phrase.
So now you have a quick and easy solution to spot-check local visibility in any location. And with that, we’re out of time for this week’s episode, so you know what that means.

We totally just high-fived ‘cause you learned something awesome.
Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you again next week for another episode of Local Search Tuesdays.
